My work is derived from my interest, as a layman, in new areas of research within contemporary science: quantum physics, pure mathematics and the Human Genome Project. I attempt to distil images and forms that are recognisably influenced by this research whilst retaining a sense of the enigmatic, the elusive and the odd.
Other ideas that inform my practice include Buckminster-Fuller's research into closest packing and Marcel Duchamp's concept of what he called the 'infra-slim', the tiny, almost non-existent space between the cast object and the mould.
